Telecommunications or Telcom

Telecom which is short for telecommunication can be defined as the transmission of signals over long distances. This form of communication started with the telephone and telegraph and has progressed into more modern forms like the internet, satellites, cable and the mobile phone. At first electronic media used copper wires with an analog signal and most recently has evolved into digital phone lines and fiber optic cable.

Forms of telecommunication broadcasting include: cable, radio, satellite, telephone, telegraph, television, microwave transmission, mobile phones, fiber optics, the internet and computer networking.
